Pattern + Marking - what’s different
Total Qs: 200 → attempt 180
Sections: Physics 50, Chemistry 50, Botany 50, Zoology 50. In each, Section A = 35 compulsory, Section B = 15 but attempt 10
Marking: +4 correct, -1 wrong, 0 unattempted
Duration: 3 hr 15 min now. Extra 15 min added for security procedures
Languages: 13 languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, etc.
Rough work relief for left-handers
Big complaint earlier: lefties struggled because rough sheets were only at the end of booklet. New fix: NTA added 2 extra rough pages at the beginning too. Total 4 pages now.
Cutoff trends + seats at stake
NEET is the only gateway for:
1,09,170 MBBS seats - 55,648 govt + 53,522 private
28,088 BDS seats
AYUSH: ∼52,000 seats
BSc Nursing, BVSc, BPT also use NEET scores now.
2025 cutoff for reference:
General: 50th percentile ∼720-137 marks
OBC/SC/ST: 40th percentile ∼136-107 marks
General-PwD: 45th percentile ∼136-121 marks
Expect 2026 to be similar, but re-exam may shift it slightly.
Common blunders to avoid in hall
NTA reported these from May 3 exam:
Wrong booklet code on OMR - leads to zero
Signature mismatch vs admit card
Wearing ornaments - mangalsutra, earrings = not allowed
Reach late: 1:30 PM gate closure is absolute.

Provisional key: 1st week July on neet.nta.nic.in
Challenge window: 2-3 days, ₹200 per question
Result: 3rd week July 2026
