1.Free Email ID Update - No More ₹75 Fee

What: UIDAI waived ₹75 fee for updating email ID in Aadhaar

When: 1 July 2026 to 31 Dec 2026

How: Update via new Aadhaar mobile app only

Why: To improve communication + make updates affordable . 

2. New Aadhaar App - mAadhaar Discontinued

Downloads: 3.1 crore downloads in 3 months

Features: Face authentication, biometric lock/unlock, QR-based sharing, secure QR identity checks

Updates: 40 lakh people updated mobile number, 6 lakh updated address via app

Privacy: Shares only required data, not full details

Profiles: Add up to 5 Aadhaar profiles linked to your mobile

Old app: mAadhaar being phased out. 

3. Assam Restricts Aadhaar for Adults

Rule: No new Aadhaar for anyone above 18 years in Assam

Exceptions: ST, SC, Tea Garden communities can get till March 2027

Announced: 13 June 2026 by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. 

4. Aadhaar Card Redesign Rumours - Fake

Claim: New Aadhaar cards with only photo + QR code coming

Govt: IT Ministry said "NOT CORRECT", no plan for redesign .
