MAHARASTRA FDA
The FDA has been running a big statewide crackdown since May 2026. In that drive, 165 licences have been suspended out of 3,137 establishments inspected
About the Domino's claim
I checked the latest FDA reports and press releases. In the recent July 2026 enforcement drive, the FDA suspended licences of 4 eateries in Mumbai and 3 restaurants, 5 Mumbai clubs, 6 eateries for hygiene violations.
But there’s no specific mention of 4 Domino's outlets in the official FDA releases and news reports I found in the last 30 days. The outlets named so far include K Rustom's, Rehmania Restaurant, Noor Mohammadi Hotel, Shalimar Hospitality, and several clubs/hotels.
It’s possible:
The news is about a different chain, or
It was part of a local action not yet in the main FDA bulletins, or
The number "4 Domino's" refers to notices/improvement notices, not full suspension
What FDA is finding in the crackdown
Common violations leading to suspension:
Hygiene lapses: grease on floors, pest/insect infestation, peeling paint, poor drainage
Documentation: missing medical fitness certificates, FoSTaC training, food/water testing records
Storage: improper segregation of raw/cooked/veg/non-veg, expired products
Equipment: rusted utensils, freeze chiller without temp display
What suspension means
The outlet must stop purchasing, manufacturing, storing, selling food until FDA re-inspects and lifts suspension
After fixing violations, they have to submit a compliance report. FDA may do a physical reinspection before reopening
Bigger picture
Since Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe took charge on May 25, 2026:
3,137 establishments inspected
75.6% compliant, 24.4% got improvement notices, 5.3% licences suspended
Rs 55.72 crore worth of food seized
