Current rules for liquor shops in AP

1. Regular retail shops

Timings: 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM

License: 3,736 private shops approved from Oct 12, 2024 to Sept 30, 2026

No 24-hour operation: State policy caps sale at 10 PM . 

2. Bars

Timings: 10:00 AM to 12:00 midnight under New Bar Policy 2025-28

Earlier: Cabinet approved 10 AM to 11 PM in Aug 2025

New Year exception: For Dec 31, 2025 & Jan 1, 2026 only, shops allowed till 12 midnight, bars till 1 AMAM. 

3. Airport bars & shops

24-hour operation: Only at airports, excluding Tirupati Airport

Reason: GO Ms. No. 386 dated 27 June 2026 recognizes "unique operational requirements of airports"

Structure: Retail Excise Tax linked to passenger footfall. 

4. Premium liquor stores

12 cities: Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, etc. Min 4,000 sqft area

License fee: ₹15 lakh + ₹1 crore annual fee

Timings: Still 10 AM - 10 PM. Can host tasting sessions with 24-hour advance intimation to excise. 

So only airport liquor outlets can run 24/7. Regular shops and bars close by 10 PM and 12 midnight respectively.
