Actress Nayanthara recently criticized filmmaker and actor Dhanush for refusing to grant her and her husband, director Vignesh Shivan, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to use songs from the movie *Naanum Rowdy Dhaan* in their upcoming Netflix documentary, *Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale*. The documentary explores Nayanthara and Vignesh’s love story, which began during the making of the film.
Nayanthara revealed that Dhanush, who produced the movie, had been unresponsive to their requests for two years and eventually sent them a legal notice for including a three-second behind-the-scenes video from the movie in the documentary’s trailer. He has reportedly demanded ₹10 crore in damages. In response, Vignesh shared the disputed clip on Instagram, sarcastically calling it “the ₹10 crore clip” and inviting people to watch it for free.
The couple had initially planned to feature elements from *Naanum Rowdy Dhaan* in their documentary, as the movie holds sentimental value for them. However, after Dhanush refused permission, they removed the songs and lyrics from the final version, which is set to release on November 18. Despite this, a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes video was included in the trailer, prompting the legal notice.
In a lengthy statement, Nayanthara accused Dhanush of holding a personal grudge against her and Vignesh. She also mentioned that Dhanush had disliked her performance in *Naanum Rowdy Dhaan* and had made hurtful comments before the film's release. Nayanthara noted that Dhanush’s behavior during award shows after the movie became a blockbuster hinted at his unhappiness with its success.
