1. Overview

Name: MG 2 Concept / MG 2 EV

Type: 5-door electric city hatchback

Purpose: Sits below the MG4 as MG’s most affordable EV

Rivals: VW ID. Polo, BYD Atto 1, Renault 5, Mini Electric, Citroën e-C3 . 

2. Design

From the concept + teasers:

Body: Rounded hatch shape, compact ∼4 meter length, 5 doors

Front: Elliptical headlights with 2-stripe LED DRLs, closed-off grille for EV aero, MG badge on hood

Details: Blacked-out C-pillar with MG badging, rounded taillamps, extended black spoiler, aero wheels, flush handles

Platform: SAIC’s Modular Scalable Platform MSP, same base as MG4. Also likely to use new E3 architecture focused on space + cost

Designed in: UK by MG’s London design studio for European roads . 

3. Interior & Tech - Expected

MG hasn’t revealed the final cabin, but it’s expected to borrow from MG4 Urban:

12.8-inch touchscreen + 7-inch digital driver display

Physical buttons for climate and key functions

Digital cockpit similar to MG3: 7-inch LCD cluster + 10.25-inch central screen .
