4. Platform, Battery & Range - Expected

MG hasn’t confirmed final specs, but based on platform and MG4 Urban:

Battery options: Likely 41.9kWh or 52.8kWh usable packs, similar to Renault 5

Range: WLTP certified range expected over 350 km for base version, upwards of 280 miles

Motor: Single motor, around 150bhp to benchmark Renault 5

Drivetrain: Front-wheel drive, torsion-beam rear suspension for cost/space

Charging: MSP platform supports DC fast charging. MG4 does 10-80% in 35-40 min. 

5. Price & Launch

Target price: Below £25,000 in UK, around €20,000

Reveal: Expected in 2nd half of 2026

Launch: Europe by mid-2027. MG UK boss says “still probably over a year away” pointing to 2027

Markets: Confirmed for UK and Europe. Potential for NZ. India chances look slim, but if it comes it would sit between MG Comet EV and MG Windsor EV. 

6. Positioning

MG says the focus is on value, not just being cheapest. Goal: attract young buyers and first-time EV users. It’s MG’s play in the crowded €20k EV segment with Fiat Panda, VW ID.1, Renault Twingo, etc .
