State-wise Major Deposits

1. Andhra Pradesh  

Areas: Tummalapalle in Kadapa district, Koppunuru in Guntur district  

Resource: 1,22,691 tonnes U3O8 - largest in India  

Mining: Tummalapalle underground mine operating since 2012, 3000 tonnes per day plant  

2. Jharkhand  

Areas: Jaduguda, Narwapahar, Bagjata, Bhatin, Banduhurang, Turamdih, Mohuldih - all in East Singhbhum  

Jaduguda mine: Started 1967, first uranium mine in India  

New find: Jaduguda North-Baglasai-Mechua deposit has 26,437 tonnes U3O8, extends mine life 50+ years  

3. Meghalaya  

Areas: Domiasiat, Wahkhyn-Wahkut, Mahadek Basin in West Khasi Hills  

Resource: 20,000+ tonnes U3O8, about 11 percent of India’s reserves  

Status: Exploration stopped in 2018 due to health and environmental concerns  

4. Rajasthan  

Areas: Rohil, Rohil West, Jahaz, Geratiyon ki Dhani in Sikar district, Umra in Udaipur  

Resource: 15,631 tonnes total - 14,471 tonnes in Sikar  

Note: Classified as small deposits  

5. Telangana  

Areas: Extensions of Cuddapah Basin from Andhra Pradesh  

Status: Under exploration  

6. Karnataka  

Areas: Gogi in Yadgiri, also Kalaburagi, Bijapur districts  

Grade: Around 0.1 percent uranium  

7. Chhattisgarh  

Areas: Balrampur, Surajpur, Rajnandgaon districts  

Status: Deposits established, under exploration  

8. Uttar Pradesh  

Areas: Sonbhadra district  

Status: Deposits established  

9. Himachal Pradesh  

Areas: Mandi district  

Status: Deposits established  

10. Maharashtra  

Areas: Gondia, Gadchiroli districts  

Status: Deposits established  

11. Uttarakhand  

Status: Deposits established
